Wolverine, lynx, fisher, marten, cougars, wolves, and
even bears are difficult to locate, but the winter
blanket of snow "ups" your odds of finding them and
learning their secrets. Designed for winter enthusiasts
from amateur naturalists to wildlife managers to those
who just want to know, this course combines basic-level
tracking with professional-level skills and
includes certification.
Lecture and field content includes snow tracking basics,
and tracking databases (criteria
for identification and measuring, footprints and trails,
size and sex determination, and discriminant analysis),
gait patterns and stories, preserving tracks (plaster casting,
photography, interpretation), species track accounts,
and ecology
